Hack Cyprus 2013 was a big success

Written by

The Cypriot Enterprise Link began with a clear-cut vision: to support entrepreneurship in Cyprus. To engage our youth. To get rid of clichés on innovation. To make things fresh. To make new things.

To put Cyprus on the global technology map.

Our diverse team, with members based in Europe and the US, brings together state-of-the-art knowledge on technology and startups. Our brainchild, HACK CYPRUS (September 4th – 8th) is the latest – and hottest –tech event in Cyprus.

Why is this a big deal?

HACK CYPRUS 2013 was featured in TECH CRUNCH’s Top 100 Annual Technology Festivals in Europe and in DzineBlog’s36 Events and Conference Website Layout Inspirations.

HACK CYPRUS 2013 is powered by Cytamobile – Vodafone, the biggest telecoms and technology carrier in Cyprus and the most consistent supporter of innovation and young entrepreneurship, and is proudly supported by the Yahoo! Developers’ Network and Amazon Web Services.

What’s it all about?

September 4th: YOUTH DAY. Teenagers aged 13-19 had the chance to participate in workshops on the basics of programming and robotics kindly sponsored by Engino educational games.

September 5th and 6th:  HACKATHON. Over 100 developers and technologists collaborated in teams to produce prototypes and were judged by a panel of experts. SOFTimpact, Cocoon Creations, Cytanet and CCS delivered the prizes and Redbull provided wings!

September 8th:INSIGHTS CONFERENCE. Where famous European startup founders of the likes of Andy Young – Groupspaces and Demetrios Zoppos – OneFineStay shared their experiences and practical advice with Cypriot talent through talks and specialized workshops.

Simply put: HACK CYPRUS 2013 is the first full-scale tech event of its kind to happen on the island. It’s creating a grassroots movement aimed to shift an entire country’s image in times of crisis.

And this is, without a doubt, an awesome story to tell.
